Shadow Elite
From the book:
"Richard Perle has served as a director of Hollinger International since 1994, has been a member of its International Advisory Board since 1991 and has been CEO and chairman of the board of directors of Hollinger Digital (a subsidiary of Hollinger International investing in dot-coms) since 1996. Perle is a director at The Jerusalem Post, one of the newspapers that Hollinger owns and operates throughout the world.
Perle used his voice as a Hollinger director to push the company to invest in other firms in which he had a stake. Hollinger International put $14 million in Cambridge Display Technology, a British-based technology group, and $3 million into Onset, a company where Perle served on the board.
Using his Hollinger positions and relationship to Conrad M. Black, the president of Hollinger and Perle’s close friend who brought him into the company, Perle convinced Black to invest $2.5 million of Hollinger money in Trireme, Perle’s investment firm. Perle also used his position as chair of the Defense Policy Board to attract investments in Trireme. … After Boeing became the largest investor in Trireme, Perle wrote the Wall Street Journal op-ed supporting the Boeing tanker deal."
