From the book: chapter 9, p. 10
"Unlike being told what to think or do, people engaged in storytelling conversations can share their experiences and look together toward more generative futures.
The storytelling that I explore here is not the tall tale of yonder shores as much as it is about people recounting their concrete experiences coupled with their feelings. Telling stories is retrospective as the storyteller draws upon previous experiences and is prospective as listeners are pulled forward to imagine unfamiliar futures. No matter how much stories are based on concrete experiences, the storytellers and engaged listeners enter the realm of imagination together."
