Homeland Security's Plain Language website is intended to assist emergency response agencies who currently use coded language during radio transmission to communicate clearly with each other and effectively coordinate response activities. Plain language, according to the National Incident Management System (NIMS), is the use of common terms and definitions that can be understood by individuals from police and fire departments, sheriff’s offices, state and local EOC personnel, 911 centers, and police departments of universities.

Touchstone Consulting Group where I worked in 2007 and 2008 was responsible for the project, and I was assigned to design the layout of the website's Home Page and the templates for it's sub pages.

The implementation of plainlanguage.gov was stoped due to lack of funding.
