Arts and Literacy in Children's Education (ALICE) is a nonprofit California foundation that collaborates with schools to integrate visual and performing arts directly into the school curriculum. The foundation brings professional artists into the classroom, where they produce performances and exhibits of children’s work.
In the spring of 2006, I worked with the ALICE staff in designing the foundation's website. The goal was to create a "simple, visually appealing and colorful, easy-to-navigate site."
I was first engaged to develope the site structure and navigation, and to create a page prototype and a color scheme. The next phase was to produce visually appealing photo compositions that would effectively communicate the foundation's main themes. In the last stage I designed a slide show of one of the public performances - The Ancestor Project - and integrated it into the site.
