Sociology in Global Perspective

An interactive chart that visually presents population growth in different areas of the world during tree centuries and provides relevant data.

From the textbook: chapter 4, p. 13

"The relative proportion of people living in different areas of the world has changed significantly in the last 300 years. ... Asia is staying fairly constant with the lion share of the world population. Africa is moving up very quickly. From 1950 to 2050 the proportion of people living here will increase in roughly two times relative to the world's total. The Europe's population, in contrast, has been declining during the same period. By 2050 there only be a third as many people relative to the total world population compared to a 100 years earlier."
